In March 1981, Frank Sr. launched the business with one truck and a unifying vision: to provide quality roofing services and products to homeowners throughout Philadelphia. Over the years, our business has grown, with more trucks and a service area that encompasses Wildwood, NJ. The vision has evolved as well: to provide quality roofing services and products to homeowners and business owners.
Although our staff has expanded, the deep commitment to family values remains. A few years ago, Frank’s two sons stepped into key leadership roles at Union Roofing: Cody became the Vice President of the Commercial Division, and Frank Jr. became the Vice President of the Residential Division. Their involvement brought a fresh perspective and underscored the company’s core values: excellence, integrity, and respect. Today, Frank Sr. and his sons provide exceptional roofing services and high-quality products to families and business owners throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Our first priority is to you, the customer. Whenever you reach out to Union Roofing, rest assured that we are listening! Our office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but in the event of an emergency, we can respond to your call anytime, day or night, including holidays. Moreover, you will always speak to an employee, not an answering machine. We will get your name, address, phone number, and a brief description of what you need (roofing, siding, windows, brick pointing, etc.). Then, we will ask how you found us, whether from Google, Angie’s List, or someplace else. From there, we will schedule a time to meet — at your convenience.
We will provide you with a FREE, NO-OBLIGATION estimate for the job. When you are ready to schedule the work, we will send you a DocuSign contract, along with a convenient link so you can pay the deposit at the same time. We designed this process to be as easy and painless for you as possible. Within a week, you will get your estimate and schedule the work. We understand that you need the job to begin and finish in a timely way!
Union Roofing employs licensed contractors who are GAF-certified and ATLAS-certified, which means that they have completed rigorous, industry-standard training. They are also fully insured, guaranteeing that the work will be completed correctly and safely.
Whenever we install a roof coating, we first sweep the roof, clearing away all debris. Then, we install an aluminum-fibered roof coating that reflects the sun and helps reduce the cost to cool your home or office. We go over all flashings with roof cement, fabric, and recement. Finally, we clean up all job-related trash.Â
If you want to install new flat roofing, there are two options: you can install the roofing over an existing roof or start from scratch.
Installing the flat roofing over an existing roof: It is important to note that you can have up to three layers of roofing before starting over. Before we begin the installation, though, we will clean and prepare the roof. Then, we install new H6F capping to all the edges, ensuring that all flashings are secured and cemented with fabric and cement. We also install a new eave box.Â
Starting from scratch: If we are unable to install flat roofing over your existing roof, we will rip your roof down to the deck. If we need to add any plywood, we will ONLY charge you for the sheets you need. Some companies will charge you for ALL new plywood, but this is not necessary. You only need to replace the plywood that is damaged.
As with the flat roofing, you can have no more than three layers of shingles on your existing roof. If we determine that you have three layers, we will have to remove your shingles down to the wood decking, haul away the debris, and charge you for the plywood. Again, we will ONLY charge you for the plywood that need. After the wood is sound, we will apply a synthetic underlayment. We add C 3 ½’ metal to all edges, along with new 30-year shingles, vent collars, and vent pipes if applicable.
We take two sets of pictures so you can see the roof BEFORE we begin the work and AFTER we finish. We know that you cannot see the top of your roof, and we want you to feel secure, trusting that our contractors are doing the job properly.

As with any roofing warranty, you are still required to maintain your new roof. Our warranties require specific maintenance every three years. We can provide that service if you like.Â
